With the kayakers no longer able to safely navigate the water, the crew tosses nutrition to Paul’s safety swimmer. The safety swimmer will then deliver the food to Paul.

With the water temps 8 degrees below normal (and the week prior), Paul ultimately succumbs to hypothermia. The crew tries to offer warm tea, warm water, anything…but clearly his speech is slurred and with his twin boys at home, there is no need to push the elements. He boards the boat. A warm jug of water goes directly to his core as he’s smothered in sleeping bags and a team of people trying to rub warmth back into his body.

A full team effort ensued to get him transfer to the Alley Cat. The adventure was over. Again, he wouldn’t walk up the other beach, but we all come away with a greatest sense of life.
